What a year 2023 was for books. So many great releases from debuts to follow ups in series and go to authors that continue to write fantastic stories.
In total, I read 150 books (a nice even number) so it was difficult to pick just 23 books as my stand-out favourites. But I did it so read on to see which novels I loved. Let me know if you've read any of them or if you perhaps still have them on your tbr list.
Still Life by Sarah Winman
These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong
Another Life by Jodie Chapman
Now She is Witch by Kirsty Logan
Heart Bones by Colleen Hoover
Fall of Ruin and Wrath by Jennifer L Armentrout
Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson
How to Build a Boat by Elaine Feeney
Where the Light Goes by Sara Barnard
Four Winds by Kristin Hannah
Children of the Sun by Beth Lewis
Bad Summer People by Emma Rosenblum
Threadneedle by Cari Thomas
Because of You by Dawn French
Love After Love by Ingrid Persaud
The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
How to Kill Your Family by Bella Mackie
One by One by Ruth Ware
The Stargazers by Harriet Evans
The Moongate by Amanda Geard
So Let Them Burn by Kamilah Cole
Nothing Serious by Emma Medrano
Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu
Out of all of the books mentioned above, if I had to pick just one book to recommend it would have to be The House in the Cerulean Sea. Klune just has a special way of writing. This story in particular really warmed my heart and I'm so excited for the sequel Somewhere Beyond the Sea which is releasing in September this year. A top 24 contender?
