I'll start this post by saying after my persistent promises, I still haven't picked up The Book of Longings again. I honestly don't know what's stopping me from reading it because I was enjoying it but other books keep getting bumped up the list.
Having said that, it's been a slow week for reading anyway.
I had the same old problem of struggling to concentrate. Too tired to read more than a few chapters at a time, perhaps my bed is too comfy to become my permanent reading spot.
However the books I have finished have been brilliant, both of which I'm joining blog tours for soon so I will get my thoughts short and sweet for now ...
Talk Bookish To Me by Kate Bromley 5 out of 5 stars
Kara Sullivan’s life is full of love—albeit fictional. As a bestselling romance novelist and influential bookstagrammer, she’s fine with getting her happily-ever-after fix between the covers of a book.
But right now? Not only is Kara’s best friend getting married next week—which means big wedding stress—but the deadline for her next novel is looming, and she hasn’t written a single word. The last thing she needs is for her infuriating first love, Ryan Thompson, to suddenly appear in the wedding party. But Ryan’s unexpected arrival sparks a creative awakening in Kara that inspires the steamy historical romance she desperately needs to deliver.
With her wedding duties intensifying, her deadline getting closer by the second and her bills not paying themselves, Kara knows there’s only one way for her to finish her book and to give her characters the ever-after they deserve. But can she embrace the unlikely, ruggedly handsome muse—who pushes every one of her buttons—to save the wedding, her career and, just maybe, write her own happy ending?
This is the perfect, feel-good romance.
Funny, sweet and charming.
Kara is an author, she writes romance but her own love life doesn't depict the relationships that she showcases in her novels.
But that could all change when an old college boyfriend (and his dog) step back into her life.
Be prepared to laugh and get ready to feel all warm and fuzzy.
With a likeable cast of characters, plenty of wit and sarcasm and a lot of love to boot, Talk Bookish to Me is the perfect antidote to any reading slump you might be having.
Guaranteed positivity in a novel.

TWO PEOPLE
Simon Sparks is the man you know from behind the counter at the local Prince Burger ('hold the gherkin!'), fry shovelling, shelf stacking, hiding away from the world. And Jodie Brook is the single mum you see crossing the street with her son Zak - always chasing a dream she can't reach.
ONE LIFE
What if life could be so much more? When Simon and Jodie's worlds collide, it upends everything they know. But in chaos comes opportunity. And for every person who's ever doubted them, they find someone who'll finally believe...
Two quirky characters. An unlikely, but beautiful friendship. Journeys of self discovery, forgiveness and new life that is just around the corner.
This is a touching tale that really pulls at the heart strings.
What I found fascinating was that this is in fact not a romance, we do get the girl meets boy but what blossoms from this is a truly heartwarming bond between friends.
With a generous combination of emotion and humour, which is all wrapped up in intricate and meaningful details, this is a book that although sad at times will give you a sense of hope.
An uplifting, unique story that left me smiling.
So now I'm reading two books, as well as The Book of Longings, I am making my way through The Ex-Boyfriend Yard Sale (absolutely hilarious).
Inspire me with your current reads.
