Hello everybody and welcome to this weeks Read With Me. A massive thank you as always to everyone who managed to link up and join in last week.
I'm having issues with my youngest (she's six) at the moment at school, not with her but with her teachers. Her reading ability is great but she is not being moved up in levels to challenge her, something which is disappointing. It's a good job that I read with her at home and that we always have an abundance of books for her to choose and read. She's currently enjoying the Goth Girl series.
Do you/did you have problems with your child when it came to reading at school?
My favourite post last week came from Yet Another Blogging Mummy with her review of the book No Impact Man.
On to the link up. Newbies do look at the Read With Me page, regulars get linking (max of 2 posts/videos), comment on a couple of other posts and perhaps consider displaying my badge of linking back somehow.
Happy reading.
Sorry I haven't been linking up lately - I've not been much of a blogger but I'm back and determined to keep it up!
ReplyDeleteNo need for apologies! We all have lives outside of blogging, glad to see you pop back though :)
DeleteThe only problem we've had with reading at school was when they let Ella, (11) bring home a Patricia Cornwell novel. I sent them a note telling them that I didn't think a book about sex crimes and murder was suitable for an 11 year old.
ReplyDeleteThe response I got was that she was in a higher reading category than the rest of her year which meant she could choose books from that category. I told tham I understood that but there was a difference between being able to read at that level and being mature enough to handle the content at that level.
I did wonder why I was even having to explain this; surely being secondary school teachers they should have known the difference!
Sorry I'm late linking up this week. And thanks for the mention. That was a great book. I'm really trying to focus on that area in my life. Who else has watched War on Plastic?
ReplyDeleteAll linked up - have a fab weekend! x
