Poopsie Surprise Unicorn Toy Review

There's two things that have been extremely popular with my children this year, unicorns and slime. So of course when I was asked if I would like to review the new Poopsie Unicorn Surprise toy, well I knew I'd be a popular mum in that moment. The question being would this combination work?

These oh so cute unicorns magically poop slime with Poopsie Unicorn Slime Surprise. With a little unicorn magic and sparkle, you can customise unicorn poop and transform it multiple times. There are ten surprises included as you begin to unwrap your toy to discover which unicorn you have. And the question is, can you find the ultra-rare Unicorn Sparkle?

Watch this majestic unicorn magically poop slime with Poopsie Unicorn Slime Surprise.

The unicorns that you could possibly unwrap - Rainbow Brightstar, Oopsie Starlight, Whoopsie Doodle or Dazzle Darling. Unfortunately it is not possible to request which style you would prefer within each assortment. We unwrapped Oopsie Starlight but I was informed they really want Rainbow Brightstar, can't say I blame them as I am quite partial to a rainbow!

Included within the package is:

* Collectible bottle and poop character keychain
* Mystery scent dropper, unicorn spoon and collector's sheet
* Ten magical surprises including unicorn food and unicorn sparkle
* Potty

After the excitement of unwrapping the unicorn and all of it's surprises it was then time to make the slime. What I will say straight away is this is quite a long process and it will need adult supervision. Here is a break down of how to go about making the slime:

1. Turn the dial on the back of your unicorn to the feeding position, listen for the click.

2. Pour unicorn shimmer into the provided bowl and use the unicorn spoon to feed it all to your unicorn.

3. Fill the measuring cup to the 5 ml line, add to the bowl and proceed to feed all the water to the unicorn.

4. Pour the unicorn food in the bottle, add 25ml water (full measuring cup), shake for 1 minute and feed to unicorn.

5. Turn dial to rocking position, rock the unicorn for 15 secs.

6. Sit on the potty and press the heart on the unicorn's belly.

7. Leave slime to set.

8. Add in half a packet of unicorn magic and some unicorn sparkle, mix until desired consistency is reached.

Now that is the broke down, simple version of making the slime. I'll admit I didn't find it quite so simple and there were times of frustration so I'm now going to provide you with some tips so that you might not find the process as stressful as I did!

1. Have a wipe down mat. This is a messy process so be prepared to have a colourful slimy mess going all over the place ( I wasn't and ended up with a pink carpet!)

2. Check that the hole in at the bottom of the unicorn is in fact closed to avoid leakage.

3. Be quick as you could end up with a constipated unicorn.

4. When the slime comes out leave it to set longer than the 15-20 minutes suggested.

5. If you want to avoid any problems, make the slime in a bowl instead of inside the unicorn!!

Once the slime has been made it can then be stored inside the keychain provided so that your child can take it with them wherever they go.

So that's the break down, here's what I actually think:

Poopsie Unicorn Surprise is priced at £49.99 and honestly, I think that's too much for a toy that is quite complicated to use. We didn't manage to make the slime successfully in the unicorn without creating a disastrous mess and the amount of slime that you actually get at the end is very small indeed. And of course there's the fact that you don't know which unicorn you might be getting.

The one plus for me was the fact that it didn't need batteries.

Now having said that, that's my complaints as a parent.

My children on the other hand love their unicorn. They've had great fun with the unicorn alone, dressing her up, brushing her enviable eye lashes and playing with her gorgeous hair. And for them slime is slime, no matter the amount, they absolutely adore all of the glitter and sparkle that comes along with it.

And I will add, there are extra packets of powders so you can make and customise more than one batch of slime, which adds a little more value to the toy.

If you are looking for a Poopsie Suprise Unicorn you can find them at Smyths, Argos and the Entertainer. I'm sure these are on many Christmas lists this year and if it is a toy your child wants I wouldn't discourage you from buying one, I just wish I'd been aware of this issues myself before unwrapping ours as I think we may have had a better initial experience with it!
