Smooshins Surprise Maker Kit Toy Review

If your children are anything like mine then they will love a good collectable, but what's better than buying them? Making your own of course. And now with the Smooshins Surprise Maker Kit your kids can do just that!

With this clever piece of kit your little ones can create, customise and of course then begin to collect these adorable, colourful smooshy characters again and again! There are over 10,000 combinations of characters and accessories to collect, which means never a dull moment.

Included with the Smooshins Surprise Maker Kit are the following:

* 2 character moulds

* 3 colour pouches + 1 for practice

* 4 head pieces 

* 4 surprise face pieces

* 4 belly pieces

* 4 character stands

* 1 pouch squeezing tool

Having four daughters I was most impressed with the amount you receive in the kit as it meant that each of my girls got to make a character of their own.

2 x AAA batteries are required to use this and unfortunately they aren't included so my first tip to you all is to make sure you have some in the cupboard to avoid any disappointment when getting ready to make your Smooshins.

Tips on creating your Smooshin:

*Use the practice colour pouch included in your kit* and follow these steps to make your first character: 

Step 1: POP - You will need to firmly pound the colour pouch with the side of your fist to ''pop'' the inner colour inside the pouch. An adult is needed at this stage in my opinion.

Step 2: MIX - Once the inner colour pouch is popped, you will have 1 minute and 30 seconds to mix the colour with the clear portion (set your timer!). Quickly pedal, swivel, swirl, and twist the pouch to get the colour completely and thoroughly mixed. There should be no clear portion remaining! 

Step 3: SQUEEZE - Once you insert and lock the colour pouch into the Surprise Maker, you must work QUICKLY! You will have 30 seconds to squeeze the contents of the colour pouch into the Surprise Maker to avoid the mixture from starting to form (harden) in the pouch. 

Step 4: GROW - Leave the pouch in the Surprise Maker and wait 4 hours. Do not open the Surprise Maker to disrupt the magic! Then, turn the pouch counterclockwise to unlock and pull firmly to remove and immediately discard the used pouch. Remove the mold from the Surprise Maker and leave the character inside the mold OVERNIGHT to grow. You can then begin the second mold while you wait for the first one to grow.

Now of course the waiting is hard but definitely worth it so do not skip this step under any circumstances! I'd suggest a good 24 hours before trying to get your newly grown Smooshin out.

I was glad for the practice pouch as it wasn't as easy as I first though. You really do need to be speedy. Our first attempt we weren't quick enough and didn't get the full colour pouch inside the Surprise Maker in time so you can see here that it didn't form correctly.

This didn't stop game-play though!

My kids love the fact that they can swap and change the included accessories, it meant that their characters could be changed for different games they were playing. And they were super eager to make more Smooshins after our first attempt.
