Ear Infections and the Holiday Blues #weeklyroundup

Hello you lovely lot, the end of another week and a few steps closer to the end of the holidays, something I'm definitely not looking forward to. You may have noticed that my weekly round up post was missing last week, the first time I haven't posted regularly since I started my blog actually but that was because we were on holiday and for once I was determined to have a proper break from the internet.

I was quite absent from social media too and I'll admit it was more than refreshing not having to worry about regular updates etc but on the flip side I did miss putting finger to keyboard and getting things out, even if there are only a handful of you that actually read my blog these days.

Because of my lack of post last week, this weeks round up is more like a fortnight round up as I don't want to leave anything out. . .

Read

Reading wise I've had a really good run. Being on holiday gave me a chance to really get into some differing novels whilst the kids played in the pool. And what was really nice was that I enjoyed each of them for different reasons. So the question is what were the books called?

The Affair by Sheryl Browne - This had so many twists, I was second guessing what was happening throughout and was quite shocked at the ending. A book told through many points of view, it is gripping to say the least.

The Astonishing Colour of After by Emily X. R. Pan - I'd describe this as slightly paranormal but also extremely emotional, be warned there is mention of suicide.

Watching Glass Shatter by James J Cudney - Family drama and secrets galore, this is a novel that shows us that no matter how much we think we know somebody, there can always be things left hidden away.

Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu - A nice easy read, light hearted and perfect for both teens and adults to get stuck into.

Watched

Before we headed off on our holidays I took the kids plus my god son down to watch Hotel Transylvania 3. We were lucky enough to also be sent a selection of figures, playsets and collectables which coincide with the movie and of course made their way down to the cinema with us.

Both the film itself and the merchandise are fantastic. Being the third film in a series, it certainly didn't lack any of the humour that we've come to know and love. It's perfect family viewing and my lot have already requested to watch it again and requested more of the collectables too.

Heard

Unfortunately for two of my children, they ended up with ear infections whilst we were away. I think partly because of all of the time they spent in the pool and diving under water. This meant a trip to the doctors when we got back because it wasn't something that was going to disappear of its own accord and the girls were complaining that it hurt a lot.

Wore

It seems highly strange not getting up and putting a bikini on after a week of practically living in swimwear. It's because of that reason that my kids look like they are still wearing their swimming costumes when you see their amazing tan lines. They definitely take after their dad in that respect because to look at me it doesn't look like I've even been out in the sun all that much but I promise you that I've got tan lines too!

Made

Did I mention we've been on holiday!? I've definitely got the holiday blues now, especially because the temperature started dropping here when we got off the plane! However we did happen to make some fantastic memories, lots of pictures taken which I must make the effort to actually print out this time round.

This was the first time that we've been away when I felt like I could actually relax a little. All the girls were old enough to go in the pool by themselves. And although I had to watch them, I wasn't in constant fear of them having trouble in the water, getting lost etc. They were that good while we were away that by the end of the vacation they were actually all swimming independently to some degree too, proud mummy moments made as well!

And lastly ...

Now we're back, with less than two weeks until the end of the summer holidays there's lots to catch up on. I've got an abundance of blog posts to write, that is the downside to taking time off. And the ten year old has got to get back to revising for school tests coming up.

I'm hoping they'll still be some sunny days where we can get out a few more times but I must be honest, even though it was only a short flight, where we flew at 3am I'm still feeling run down, another holiday would be nice. I should be catching up with the bestie over the weekend, I may need a coffee or two to keep me alert in the mean time.

Hope you've all had a good week, happy weekend everyone.
