Cold Weather, Bunk Beds and Stepping Into a New Month #LittleLoves

Ok, ok, I can't be the only one thinking this..... how is it March already? I mean the third month of the year, nearly a quarter of the way through 2018, just where are the days going? And lets be honest with the cold temperatures this week it doesn't feel as if Spring is getting any closer, if anything it feels like we've skipped back to December, you know the month when we think it actually should be cold.

It's been one of those weeks where I wish we could have just hibernated, it's been a real effort to get out of bed in the mornings, just the thought of coming out from under my nice warm duvet has made starting each day quite difficult. But I done, I put my big girl panties on and instead of hiding, the kids and I have been layering up and getting on with our days like normal but seriously now, roll on warmer weather!

Here's to a cold Little Loves this week....

Read

After not really reading a lot over half term, I seemed to have really got my mojo back when it comes to books, well that is until my Kindle kindly tells me it needs charging! One book that I read which really captured my attention was Girl In Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow. You can read my full review about it as I chose it as my February book of the month. Just be warned it does contain context around self harm and suicide.

Another book that I really enjoyed recently was the novel If You Knew Her by Emily Elgar. This is one of those books that will keep you guessing. I honestly thought I had it all worked out quite early on so when I got to the end and it turned out that I was actually completely wrong it made a good book even better.

Watched

So apart from still making my way through every season of Friends, (it gets better each time I watch it I swear!), my husband and I have really struggled to find a TV programme to watch that we think we'll both enjoy. We ended up starting Alias Grace on Netflix but if I'm honest I just found it quite boring, there was nothing that gripped me. A film we watched was Cardboard Gangsters and this was another disappointment, especially when it had a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, no idea who gave it that because well it just came across as low budget and poorly made.

As a family we did watch a good film, a classic, I Am Legend. I find you can't go wrong with a bit of Will Smith for entertainment. It's one of those movies that I love but also struggle to watch at times because I'll admit it has been known to make me cry, I mean the dog for starters and then well if you've watched it then you know what happens...

Heard

Music wise I don't think I've heard anything new this week. I don't always stay up to date with the latest songs etc. I tend to stick to what I like. An artist that I always play on repeat when I'm out by myself is The Weeknd, I have all of his albums and I've not got bored of them yet.

Something else I heard which ties in with something I watched too was the sounds of laughter and enjoyment from my eight year old when she was on her swimming lesson with her school this week. I was lucky enough to be able to watch as I'd volunteered to help out the class. It was nice to see and hear her so happy, despite not actually being able to swim properly yet you could tell that she had an abundance of confidence so I don't think it will take her long to get to grips with this new skill.

Worn

Layers!

I mean it's all about the layers right now isn't it. Vests underneath jumpers. Knee high socks underneath trousers and then thigh high boots over the top for good measure. I can't be the only one who is now tiring of their winter wardrobe?

I'm getting to the point where I feel like I am wearing the same outfits over and over again, leaving me with a desperate need to wear skirts and dresses without tights, to dig out the sandals and let my feet breath a little again. A couple of weeks ago when the sun was shining I managed to go out without a coat on but I fear I may have just jinxed the weather in doing so.

The other thing I have been wearing is this lovely watch from Adexe London. I normally stick to my Fitbit but I'm loving this, especially with the seconds hand going around too, perfect for when I'm working out. If you like the look of it as much as I did, you can head over to my Twitter page via this link and try and win yourself a watch identical to the one below:

Made

Last week I talked about the girls bunk beds being made. After a little messing around with delivery they were finally put together and then the new unicorn bedding was popped on too. You can see from my youngest's face just how happy she was to finally get the bed she wanted, although she was left a little upset when she was informed that it would in face be her older sister that would be occupying the top bunk and not her.

It's made such a big difference to their room. They now have a bit of individual space in the shape of their beds and this has also freed up a good amount of floor space so they can actually have all their toys out (as long as they put them away again lol).

And lastly ...

We didn't get any snow days here, well my husband did and quite frankly that's just not fair. So we're taking the opportunity to be a little bit lazy. We've got to pick up the eldest's new glasses, she opted to wait until the summer before trying contacts again so for now she's going for a bit more adult looking setting of specs, I'll show them to you in next weeks post.

And after that I think we'll be doing a spot of family visiting and then taking it easy at home. Is it just me or do the colder temperatures make you feel more tired than usual? It's making me look forward to our holiday in August even more, roll on Summer!

  1. No snow days for us either much to my girls' annoyance! I know what you mean about feeling like you're wearing the same outfits all the time. I'm just wearing a variation of jumpers and jeans each day! Bring on the sunshine! x

  5. Aww your little one definitely looks impressed with her new bed, even if she doesn't get the top bunk. I'm with you on how quickly the year is going, I can't believe it's March yet either. Have a good weekend! #littleloves
