The Vintage Sweetheart Dress Review

Having four girls I guess it comes as no surprise that they are really into clothes. Each of them has their own unique style, already choosing their outfits by themselves and having an opinion on what they think looks good. What's good is that even though they seem typically girly, they don't conform to the girls must wear pink, mixing it up with different colours and patterns. When The Vintage Sweetheart got in touch asking if I'd like to review one of their handmade dresses, it was tough deciding who would receive it. In the end I decided my seven year old should get to choose a dress, she does end up with a lot of second hand clothes so it was nice for her to get something of her own, something that you won't find on the high street.

Before I review the stunning piece we were sent let me tell you a little bit about the company. Run by the lovely Emily, The Vintage Sweetheart create wonderful handmade dresses for babies and girls ranging from 0-3 months up to age 13-14. Each dress produced by The Vintage Sweetheart is made with absolute love and care in the UK using the highest quality cotton and each one is named after some very important people in Emily's life. With every item sold they donate £3 to Mango Tree, a children's charity in India and they are suitable for whatever occasion you are looking to wear them to.

The hardest thing about the review was actually choosing the dress, with so many fantastic designs to choose from there is literally a style to suit everyone. Gracie ended up picking out five styles so when we finally received our dress in the post it was a complete surprise as to which one would be inside the packaging. The dress in question ended up being the Sara Golden Melody dress and let me tell you my daughter couldn't have been any happier with the chosen design as it happened to go very well with a certain pair of golden heels that she'd just received for her birthday.

When ordering your dress you may have the option to pick sleeve length, whether you want a bow or not and even the colour of the dresses lining. And keeping an eye on the detail you even have the option to buy matching accessories at an extra cost, these include alice bands and even boys bow ties. This particular dress has a scooped neck and a fixed belt. With a flared skirt it makes the musical notes look as though they are floating as you swing the dress around. The style is a classic one and would be perfect for any music enthusiast.

Gracie adores her new dress, her favourite thing to do is twirl around whilst wearing it. This dress sets her apart from her friends at parties and makes her feel quite grown up when wearing it and plus for me as a parent is that it is machine washable no trips to the dry cleaner needed. Dresses such as this one have a starting cost of around £27.50 which is very reasonable when you consider clothing costs these days. The dress can take up to four weeks to make so if you like the look of this one don't delay in ordering.

  1. I love this! It's so rare to have handmade clothes these days AND some of the profit going to charity. I am really trying for quality over quantity for clothes these days!

  2. The sort of dress my daughter would have gone wild for, I wish she would now, I'm fed up of baggy jumpers and jeans with holes!
