Creating The Ultimate Man Cave

If you are a regular reader of my blog then you will know that my husband is a very out-numbered man, with a wife and four daughters to contend with I wouldn't be surprised if he is a little bit relieved when he leaves for work some mornings, escaping the chaos of all things 'girl' related. What he needs in his life is a space of his own that he can escape to when he needs a break from all of the hormones. So I've been having a little think on just how he could go about creating the ultimate man cave, notice I said him not me, well I'm not so good on the DIY front.

Anyway here are what I consider to be the top five essentials needed in order to create the ultimate man cave for the that all important male in your life.

1. The Room

To start a man cave you of course need a room to make it in. Unfortunately we don't have any spare ones going in our house so what better than a shed/garage. I've found loads over on a site called Lidget and I already know just the spot for one, right at the bottom of our garden.

2. Electricity

An obvious one but I thought it needed mentioning, no man cave could function properly without electricity flowing to it, I mean how would they get those all important gadgets working?

3. Seating

Now you need to be comfortable and because this is the ultimate man cave not any seating will do, it would definitely need to have a reclining function and perhaps ports for headphones etc. Well men do like their technology don't they.

4. Television

Keeping up with the running theme, the TV needs to be pretty epic, I'm thinking 4K, curved and then a games console to hook up to it, because of course he couldn't live without playing Battlefield and it would be a novelty to play it without children disturbing the sounds of warfare.

5. Fridge

Having a fridge in the man cave serves two purposes. It means there isn't the need for running water (this gets rid of any plumbing costs) and the second reason is that the man doesn't need to leave his cave to get himself any sort of refreshment.

You might be thinking that there doesn't seem to be an awful lot included in this list but let me tell you why. When you think about it men are simple creatures, they're not going to be bothered about decoration and personal touches, it as a space to simply relax and I guess to store all of their "toys".

What essentials do you think are needed to create the ultimate man cave?

  1. I think some kind of game like a billiard table or an arcade system or even a video game console would be important. Comfy seating as you said is supreme too. Thanks for the post! #PoCoLo

  2. Love it! That chair is just like our recliners and is super comfy, it lasts years too - we bought ours in 2004 and they're still going strong!! Thanks for linking to #pocolo
