I'm always on the look out for new books, not only for myself but for my kids too. I like to support newer authors and perhaps just those I haven't previously heard of too, so when I was asked if I'd like to review a children's book called Jungle Jam I could hardly resist.
How are you making that beautiful sound? What is this music you have found?
Mikey the Monkey dreams of being a famous singer. One day he decides to leave his home and sets out on a wild musical adventure to share his singing with the world.

With simple and bright illustrations from Jason James and a captivating story the incorperates lots of rhyming, this is a book that I would say is best suited for young children. It is tale that makes a wonderful introduction into the world of musical instruments and the different sounds that they might make.
As Mikey the Monkey goes on his travels you not only learn about music but you learn about different sorts of animals too, from lions and elephants to zebras and giraffes. This also makes a great discussion point. Where in the world might we find these animals and just what sort of noises do they make?

With each instrument that we were being introduced to, my girls and I were having great fun pretending to play them ourselves. A bit of air guitar and wiggling our fingers as though they were gliding over keys on a piano. I think we turned in to the music man (or woman in our case).
Such an enjoyable tale, wonderfully interactive and by the end not only had will your child/ren have gained more of an interest in music they will have started to grasp the concept of working together as a team because being a solo artist can be good but being a band means being able to play with your friends.
My youngest two are 4 and 6 and they really had fun with this book. A nice story with plenty of interaction and if that wasn't enough there are even a couple of activity pages at the back to extend the story even further, the book that keeps on giving.

That sounds lovely. It's always nice to get recommendations of books for my niece and nephew.
