A couple of weeks ago our local fire station opened its doors to the public, allowing both kids and adults inside to see just how the place runs, what the inside of the fire engines actually look like and a few safety demonstrations too.
Now we turned up at just the right moment because as we go outside, up came this fabulous fire engine, pulled by horses! It was fascinating to see just what was used all those years ago but it definitely got me thinking, I mean there must have been a lot of fires that weren't reached in time due to the horses not being able to run fast enough.
We are so lucky with how technology etc has advanced over time, this photo shows just how different things were, I appreciated that fire fighters these days still have a tough job to do but can you imagine how hard it must have been for those putting out fires back then?
This is something great for kids to see too as it isn't something that they will necessarily come across in school along their learning journey.
Oh wow, doesn't it leave you a bit worried as to who would turn up if you called 999? Joking aside, must have been a great day for the kids. #MySundayPhoto
