Read With Me 2016 #7

read with me linky

Hello, welcome to this weeks Read With Me. A big thank you as always to all of you who came and linked up or even just had a read through the post that were shared last week. It really does mean a lot to me.

My little topic for discussion this week is about free books, specifically ebooks. Now I don't mind paying for a book when it is fairly priced but I think the price of ebooks seems to have increased significantly over the past year. It just seems to be like every other product these days, you pay more but don't get anything extra for your money

So much so that sometimes you can purchase the paperback at a cheaper price which in my eyes is madness. I mean how can you charge more for something that doesn't even cost anything to print as such.

But because of this when I see books offered for 0p on Kindle I can't resist a bargain but it then makes me feel like I'm cheating the author out of a wage, how do the authors manage to earn any money. Surely there needs to be a balance, a middle ground as such. What's everyone elses thoughts on this?

Anyway enough of my rambling, onto my favourite post from last week. It comes from the lovely Frazzled Mum. It is another one of her superb short stories, I find her writing fascinating and full of emotion, I'm really looking forward to the day that she writes a whole book!

Now for the link up, anyone new to this can take a look at the Read With Me page to see what it is all about. Regulars please get linking (max of 2 posts), commenting and hopefully displaying my badge.

Happy reading.

  1. I've never read a free book! Probably because I don't have a Kindle. I prefer meaty books of around 500 pages, so I'm sure they would never be available for free anyway. I guess with free books the free thing is just a limited offer to get people interested, but I don't imagine the author gets paid an awful lot even when the price goes up.

  2. My teenage daughter is always looking for teen books on the kindle, although it does work out ok, because she LOVES the story and then gets me to buy the entire series, so I guess these authors know what they are doing!

  4. free books are great! But I have such a pile of books that I get every month to review working with publishers and authors, that I rarely have time digging around Amazon for free kindle reads. Blessings!
