The idea behind this set is to learn all about the skill of blending different scents to invent perfumes which are suited to you personally.
Aimed at children aged 8+, the set contains the following :
5 fragrances
plastic pipettes
gift bottles
self adhesive labels
pair of laboratory gloves
colour activity guide
The instruction booklet actually gives a little introduction into where the art of perfume making began, something I didn't even know about so very interesting facts indeed.
It is recommended that each of the fragrances be tested on your skin before use, a very sensible thing to do especially if you have kids like mine that suffer from eczema. Luckily no reactions occured so we were free to carry on experimenting.
I was surprised at just how much there was to be learnt when mixing different fragrances. From notes (not the musical kind), how to smell perfumes to the actual blending itself and how much you need to fill a bottle, all very scientific which suited my eldest daughter to a T.
There is a chart within the book which allows you to record just what scents you are using, this makes it easier to recreate a fragrance that you've made and liked.
This was an enjoyable activity, we all had fun getting creative, even if a couple of the scents weren't to oue liking in the end. It would have been nice to have more masculine scents included so we could have made a fragrance for the boys too.
Invent-a-scent Perfume definitely kept us entertained and of course there is a the bonus that you can give out your perfumes as gifts once you've made them too. We just need to think of names for ours now.

ReplyDeleteIt looks like you all had a lot of fun x
Although she's a bit young (6) my eldest daughter would love this kit. I may keep this in mind for her birthday next year. Interesting, I recently reviewed something called Library of Fragrance. It's a similar thing for adults that you can use to blend aftershaves or perfumes. #triedandtested
