Alice's Adventures in Wonderland Turns 150

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is a classic story which many shorten to Alice in Wonderland. It is a book which was written way back in 1865 by a clever man named Charles Lutwidge Dawson, more commonly known as Lewis Carroll. That makes Alice 150 years old!

Now I've read this story many times and know all of how Alice fell down the rabbit hole but it wasn't until recently that I realised my children hadn't.

They've seen the Disney film of course but that's no substitute for the book in my opinion. So I was thrilled when I received a gorgeous new edition of the book in the post.

Republished by Barnes & Noble, this hardback copy will look stunning on any bookshelf. Deep purple leatherbound cover, silver leafed pages and a built in golden coloured bookmark, it looks spectacularly magical before you even open it up.

Inside you will discover the original stories. No lack of funny characters and wonderous adventures.

Both stories are brought further to life with the accompanying illustrations. John Tenniels drawings manage to portray all the humour and craziness that the book wants to you imagine.

This is a story that I feel will forever remain popular amongst adults and children. Utter nonsense at times, it is fantasy at its best with characters that will stick in your brain.

From the Cheshire Cat, to the Mad Hatter and not forgetting Alice herself. Prepare to find all things weird and peculiar and let the unlogical take over.

If you haven't got your own copy of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland then this should be the one you purchase.

  2. What a beautiful copy of the book! I reread it last year on Kindle, but I do think it's a book that deserves pages.

  3. I read Alice very recently and found it completely bonkers and bizarre! And a bit more confusing than I anticipated. Loved it though and have bought BookBairn an interactive board book to introduce some of the story to her. #readwithme

  5. I did read it as a child but found it hard going and couldn't get into Alice through the Looking Glass at all.

  7. I think that this is a book that my daughter would enjoy, we have watched both versions of the Alice films but I don't think she has ever read the original story behind them #readwithme

  8. I have never actually read this, I've seen the films but not the book. Olivia is at an age where I think she will really enjoy it now x
