Rock Bandz Review

My daughters are typical girls. They love dressing up, putting on make up and wearing jewellery. A lot of my things such as lipsticks and necklaces go missing quite regularly! Interplay's Fab Lab range includes a lot of jewellery making kits, one in particular being Rock Bandz.

This set is for making studded wrist bands. Ok not overly girly but I like this set because it appeals to both boys and girls at the same time. Time to find your inner rock star!

In the set you receive all the tools needed to make six wristbands. This includes gold and silver studs, faux leather bands on various lengths and colours, a stud tool, a stud key, a setter plate and a punch set (4 of them).

All of the leather bands are ready for punching except one which is there to be braided, great for practicing plaits! You can see my attempt in the photograph below, my fat thumbs did not aid in the process.

Now this set is suitable for children aged 8 and upwards and I after having a go myself I can see why.

The idea behind putting the studs into the bands is quite simple and the instruction booklet is easily understood. However the small studs can be a tad fiddly and you do need a certain amount of oomph to push the studs down into the leather so younger children would struggle.

But for older kids this is a really fun activity and best of all you get to wear and show off your rocking creation once it is made.

With different sizes, shapes and coloured studs, you get the chance to really get creative, making patterns and coming up with your own unique wrist bands. The studs come in gold and silver and give that wrist bands a bit of glitz and glamour.

Priced at £9.99 I'd happily purchase this my eldest two, it kept them quiet for a long time and best of all there were no arguments as they were making them.

It allows them to get a little creative whilst making something of their own. And from a parent point of view I like that no sort of sticking is involved (less mess) and no extras need to be bought to allow you to get started! And there is that added element that the wrist bands once made could be given as gifts to friends, a good way to get inexpensive Christmas/birthday presents maybe?
