LeapFrog Interactive World Map Review

I blog about LeapFrog books and products quite often and each time I find myself more impressed with what they have to offer. One of my most recent reviews was for their LeapReader, with so many books compatible with it, it's become a great reading companion to my children. Well last week we were lucky enough to receive LeapFrog's Interactive World Map.

This two sided map is compatible with both the LeapReader and Tag systems and is designed to get your kids ready to be taken on a adventure around the world.

Of course before we could begin there was the obligatory setting up. This is simple enough, simply touching the LeapReader to the map then connecting the LeapReader to a computer ready for downloading the relevant content.

Once complete you're ready to embark on a global journey.

Aimed at 4-8 year olds, there are so many things to see and learn, helping build both map and geography skills whilst learning all about different locations, countries, contenents and the people that habitat them.

As I mentioned at the beginining there are to sides to this board map.

On one side you discover the polictal map, named Countries Of The World. This map focusses more on the countries themselves. Here you can go on a little treasure hunt, my youngest two loved this, as well as taking part in the map racer challenge, I'm such a tourist (level 1) because I struggled to get the answers correct.

When you turn the map over the other side is named Our World is the physical map. More picture based, here you get to learn just what a map is, learn about different countries, discover how long it takes you to travel to certain places and even how to say hello in different languages. Along with all of that there are many games, activities and challenges to really test your growing knowledge.

What I really loved about this map was the size of it. You will need a bit of floor space for it but I think this makes it perfect as even though only one child can be holding the LeapReader, the other kids could be sat around the map looking for specific pictures, places etc. A nice way of promoting team work.

As is always the case with LeapFrog, this is learning made fun. A wealth of knowledge to be found, even though it says for 4-8 year olds, I was relearning things that I'd long forgotten from my school days and the toddler was content listening even if she wasn't fully understanding yet.

Every game/challenge is family friendly and provides great entertainment for the whole family. Learning through play at its' best, interactive and entertaining whether being used independently or together with others. Costing just £16.99, it is highly worth investing in.
