Father's day, a day where dads get celebrated. And what better way to treat your dad than taking them out for dinner, saves on you washing up too!!
I recently took the girls and their dad out for dinner at our local Brewer's Fayre restaurant which happens to be a 5 minute drive from our house so extremely nearby.
Upon arrival I will say we were kept waiting a little while to actually be seated, their didn't seem to be the staff on hand at that time but after finally being shown to our table the service was nothing but excellent.
There was a great range of food on the menu, from classic burgers and fish n chips to curries, salads and pastas, dishes to appeal to everyones tastes. Kids have their own little menus to look at with the same sort of offerings and the price of their meals differs depending how many courses they opt for.
Ordering the food is simple, you order at the bar stating your table number, paying at the same time. This is something I actually prefer as when you come to the end of your meal you aren't stuck waiting for a waiter/ess to come and take payment, you can leave at your leisure.
What we paid was very reasonable, 6 main meals, 6 drinks and 1 starter cost just over £50, I'm not sure you'd be paying so little in other restaurants, I think this makes the ideal location for a big family meal or for a party of friends.
Something which appealed to my husband was the fact that the girls got comic/activity books to keep them occupied whilst we waited for our food to be prepared. A bit of peace and quiet is always appreciated. A mix of colouring, puzzles and comic strips to read kept them all entertained and they were keen to take their books home to finish of what they had started.
We didn't wait too long for our meals to be cooked and the nice thing was that they were all served at the same time, this meant no complaints from the kids like "why has she got her dinner and I haven't?".
The food itself didn't disappoint either. Really well presented which instantly makes it all the more appealing, the meals actually looked liked how they were pictured in the menus for a change. And it tasted as good as it looks, well that's atleast what my kids and my husband tell me. I was actually suffering from a cold so couldn't taste a thing (insert sad face here).
And of course I couldn't write a post about a Father's day meal without getting a picture of daddy hazelden, although he was a tad reluctant to be photographed eating….
Overall the Duke of York restaurant got a big thumbs up from my family. Good food at great prices, we couldn't ask for a lot more.
