Dining Room Inspiration

When my husband and I finally bought our home last December we immediately started planning in our heads just how we'd decorate each room. No offence to the previous owners but their style definitely wasn't to our tastes.

One room that I'm desperate to give a little uplift, a Spring time revamp if you will, is our dining room. In our previous house we didn't really have a dining room, more like a space in our living room which we used for eating. So when we moved the dining area was left looking rather bare as we had pretty much no furniture to fill it with. You can see in the picture below that we have our "well used" dining room table and chairs and a princess tent which doesn't quite fit my vision.

We seem to have got a running theme when it comes to colour scheme and that is black, grey and white and I'd like to keep within that sort of palette. So I've been searching the internet for inspiration on decor, furniture etc and below are some of my top picks.

The one piece I am desperate to have is the below extending dining table from Next, it can be made big enough to have 10 people seated around it, this would be perfect for my family of 6 as well as visiting family and friends.

Now my husband and I have been busy changing our old furniture by painting them in white, making them look brand new, bright and clean. This we thought we could extend to new furniture. I love the welsh dresser and storage box from Oak Furniture King but I'd paint them white to fit in with the rest of  the room.

I've been busy over on Pinterest, pinning all sorts of furniture, furnishings and pictures (anyone else find that site addictive?). All of which you can see for yourself. I love all the little extras, the attention to detail such as lighting, place mats etc.  And I have a real thing for word art at the moment too.

I think the trouble for me is that as much I'd like the room finished now, I'm thinking it might end up being a Winter makeover rather than a Spring/Summer one. My aim is to have it complete before Christmas. And I guess then I'll need to buy new Christmas decorations to make them match ;)

What room would you like to makeover right now??
