Hint of Chilli Carrot Crisps

I find my snacking is what really lets me down when it comes to losing weight. Like others, I find it hard to resist the junk food, why do chocolate and crisps have to taste so good? So I've been searching the web to find some healthy alternatives that will trick my mind into thinking I'm having something a little bit naughty!! On my search I found carrots crisps but on they're own they sounded a little bland so I added a little something to spice them up…

hint of chilli carrot crisps

Ingredients

* 2 carrots
* 3/4 tsp chilli oil
* 1/2 tsp salt

Preparation

* Preheat your oven to around 180ÂșC gas mark 4/5.

* Slice your carrots thinly, if they are took thick they won't cook properly, they'll be more soggy than crispy.

* Place thein in a jug and add 3/4 tsp of chilli oil and 1/2 tsp of salt, mix until all carrot slices are covered.

* On a baking spread them out evenly and bake for around 15-25 minutes. Keep and eye on them as they can go from cooked to burnt quite quickly.

You can eat these straight from the oven of store them in an air tight container for up to three days. I love these as it is just like eating crisps except you are consuming less than half the calories!!

  2. My weakness is chocolate. And cheese. I can take or leave crisps but I do like the idea of these, I imagine the sweetness of the carrot works really well with the chilli.

  5. I have such a savoury tooth and crisps are my complete downfall. These sound like a reasonably healthy alternative. Definitely going to give them a try and also do a batch with garlic oil.
