Sweet Chilli Sausage Rolls Recipe

I love a good sausage roll but sometimes it can come across as a bit boring, it doesn't have the wow factor that other foods have. I confess that I've never made my own sausage rolls before but having looked at different recipes, I decided that it wouldn't be that hard so below is my twist to the classic pastry food.

sweet chilli sausage rolls

Ingredients

* 375g Ready rolled puff pastry
* 170g Sausage Meat
* 1 Egg beaten for glazing
* Sweet chilli sauce.

Preparation

* Firstly preheat your oven to 200ºc (180ºc for fan assisted ovens)

* Get your puff pastry and roll it out. Cut into 10 rectangles and place on a non stick baking tray.

* In each rectangle place around 1/2 a tsp of sweet chilli sauce and spread out.

* Lay a rectangle of sausage meat on top of the chilli sauce.

* Roll the pastry over and seal the join with a little of the beaten egg.

* Brush the egg over the remainder of the sausage rolls then score the top of each one 3-4 times.

* Bake in the oven for around 20 minutes until golden brown.

The sweet chilli gives the sausage roll a delicious kick, perfect party food or a lunch time treat maybe?
