Our Day Out To Chessington World of Adventures

I was very fortunate when SuperBreak offered tickets for my family and I to go to Chessington World of Adventures last week, what did I need to do in return?? Enjoy our day out and tell you lovely lot all about what we got up to.

We live around an hour and half car drive away from the theme park, Chessington opens at 10am so we set off at 7.45am as we needed to get petrol and travel sickness tablets before we could get on our way. Well turns out the petrol station we normally use wasn't working, first set back, then Daddy Hazelden realised he had forgot his drink and music CDs, quick about turn to go back home, good job because I swiftly decided I needed a wee, oops.

We eventually got on the road about 8.30am and we still managed to arrive at Chessington before 10am so we made good time and an added bonus is that we got parked right by the entrance.

SuperBreak had provided me with a printout that included our reference number so all I needed to do was hand this over at the ticket office and we were provided with our tickets to enter the park and maps to help us find our way around.

Once in the park Freya decided to be chief map holder, although I struggled to understand it so I wasn't sure where we would end up first.

I've been to Chessington World of Adventures previous times but it seems to get bigger each time I visit. More rides to try out and with the added Sea Life Centre and Chessington Zoo, it really is the perfect place for the whole family to visit.

We spent the morning going on rides. Daddy Hazelden took the older two on the bigger rides whilst I was in charge of the smaller rides (I wasn't scared, honest). Of course we had to go on the famous Bubble Works, it was the one ride that Layla could go on and it was worth it to see her face light up.

We didn't have to wait longer than 10 minutes to get on the younger childrens rides. The longest queue was for the vampire ride, Daddy Hazelden and Freya were queing for 75 minutes in the end, Daddy Hazelden grew inpatient but this was Freya's first rollercoaster ride so she was more than happy to stand there waiting, she was telling everyone for days afterwards about how good it was.

There is a good range of different restaurants and cafes to choose from when you are feeling hungry. Whether you fancy something hot or cold, there are plenty of options, from pizzas and mexicans to sandwiches and doughnuts, mmm doughnuts, there is something for everyone.

I liked that there were deals which you can prebuy online to save yourself money if you want and after 3pm kids each free too (1 child per paying adult), making eating out more affordable.

We opted for the simple burger and chips, the kids each got badges with their meals, nice little souvenir.

We spent the afternoon wandering around the Sea Life Centre and the zoo. The girls learnt all about different fish and even managed to spot a few Nemos!!

At the zoo there were tigers and lions lazing in the sun and gorillas monkeying around. There is even a smaller zoo with pigs, goats and donkeys, Layla fell in love with the pig, well she is a huge fan of Peppa.

We also watched the Sea Lion show, Layla clapped along when the sea lions clapped, very entertaining. There are different shows etc put on during the day, you can watch the tigers and lions being fed and you can meet some adorable penguins, it was nice for the kids to be able to learn a bit about animals whilst having fun too.

Of course we couldn't leave Chessington without visiting the souvenir shop and for some reason we came away with sweets but I suppose you can never have enough sweets!!

We had a great day out, it was a fab way to break up the half term week and the girls are already asking us when we can go again. And with the Azteca Hotel opening up in August this year, there will be even more to see when we return next.

The only thing that would have made it better was if Layla had been a bit older/bigger and able to go on more of the rides.

xxxx

Disclaimer : We were sent tickets free of charge from SuperBreaks to visit the attraction however all thoughts and opinions are my own.

  2. We've been thinking of visiting for a while but wanted to wait until the kids were big enough to go on most of the rides. Sounds like there's still a lot to do though.

  5. I've not been to Chessington, but it looks great - there's loads more there than I expected. 75 minutes is such a long time to queue, but at least it was totally worth it :)
