Love, Lies and Lemon Cake by Sue Watson Review

I was recently gifted a copy of Sue Watson's newest book, Love, Lies and Lemon Cake, I haven't read
Love, Lies and Lemon Cake by Sue Watson
anything from this author before but was told as I like a good chick lit that it would definitely be to my liking.

"Fay Dobson has lost her sparkle. Living on film star fantasies and vague memories of a marriage thatonce was, she can't help feeling that life is passing her by. She dreams of being whisked to Paris for dinner, making three wishes at the Trevi fountain and having sex under the stars. But wrinkles are multiplying, her husband's passion is for plumbing and the nearest she'll get to Rome is a take-away pizza."

You can take a look at the first chapter here and it is available to purchase from amazon right now. Read on to see just what I thought about the book…..

Faye is not only a wife but a mother too. From the opening pages you can see that she has become bored with life, with her daughter, Emma, now away at university, Faye is struggling. She dreams of her alternative life, whilst laying in the bath tub she sees her escape, cheeky meetings by the pool with sexy male celebrities. Midlife crisis maybe?

She appears to have got stuck in ground hog day, trapped in a failing, loveless marriage with her husband Craig, who seems to be more turned on watching the latest episode of Top Gear than by his wife, Faye spends more time avoiding her husband than actually living her life.

Then she finds her 'living list' tucked away with other memories, hopes and dreams that have been long forgotten about. This list was everything she wanted to achieve in life and is also now a stark reminder of the path her life took.

"Go for it, don't wait not to be asked, don't put anything off, do it now. None of us know how long we've got and you have to live every day!"

Who knew she could find the answers to her problems in the local Deli. As Faye builds the courage to finally leave her husband and try to begin her life again, she meets Dan, the gorgeous Australian who just happens to be 10 years her senior, Ryan Gosling eat you heart out!!

"Whatever does it for you. Your welcome to come in any time and watch me make sandwiches…. if that's your thing."

As the story progresses we see Faye and her big mouth (definite lack of filter), manage to work her way through all her self doubts and insecurities and it is nice to see her turn into a confident woman, comfortable in her skin. And with Dan pushing her to face her fears.

"Lets add to our living lists and tick them off one by one."

Sex under the stars, lemon cupcake tattoos, Faye is show just where life can take you on a whim and she gets her second chance at life.

Love, Lies and Lemon Cake is a heart warming and funny story that had me laughing out loud a lot. With some very witty dialogue and brilliantly created characters, it is chick lit at its best, light hearted and easy to read, perfect for when you need a little pick me up!!!
