Vita Coco Kids Review

I have become a huge fan of coconut water in recent months, not only is it tasty, it contains lots of nutrients and it boosts hydration. I was recently asked if my children would like to try the new Vita Coco Kids drinks and when I showed the kids they are all said a loud yes in unison!!

We received an amazing package, I would describe it as looking like a treasure box but what goodies would be found inside?

The first thing that you can't fail to notice is the packaging. With picture of monkeys, toucans and tropical beaches, these drinks look vibrant and fun, my children would definitely be drawn to them if they were to see them on a supermarket shelf.

As a parent, a great thing to know about these drinks is that they contain a lot less sugars than most other kids juices and smoothies. In a 100ml serving there is around 5g of sugar compared to the leading kids juice which have around 7-8g of sugar per 100ml serving.

Another good thing that I found out is that the Vita Coco Kids drinks are free from artificial sweetners and preservatives too, no nasty stuff to be found in them at all.

The drinks are essentially coconut water but they are given a little kick with some natural fruit flavourings. Available in two flavours : mango and pineapple and apple and blackcurrant, I liked how the flavourings weren't overpowering, it was a subtle taste, very refreshing and enjoyable.

They were the perfect size, as you can see from the picture above, the girls loved them. We were sent two of each flavour so they decided to share so that they could all try both flavours and of course for reviewing purposes I had to try them too ;)

When the cartons were finished we had a vote on which flavour was best :

Elise : apple and blackcurrant
Freya : apple and blackcurrant
Gracie : mango and pineapple
Mummy : mango and pineapple

Layla at 20 months old didn't really understand the concept of choosing so it ended in a tie, both winners.

Vita Coco recommend that these drinks are best served chilled however they don't have to be so I think they would be perfect to pop in your childs lunch box or for taking on a day out, a trip the beach maybe (Summer is coming!!)

Overall we really loved these drinks and they get a big thumbs up from us, a great alternative to the normal squash or juice that you would buy!

You can find more information over on their site and why not connect with them and say hi on twitter too.

Disclaimer : I was sent these drinks free of charge for reviewing purposes however all thoughts and opinions are my own.
