Nativity plays

Well yesterday I went to watch my Elise be an angel in her school nativity. She only had one line but she performed it very well as I was right at the back of a crowded hall and I could hear her perfectly. I know I know I'm a little bit biased lol.

My one gripe about school nativities is that they aren't traditional anymore. What happened to the normal Christmas story about Mary and Joseph travelling to Bethlehem?? Why does everyone have to try and modernise it and put their own spin on things. It annoys me because to me this was a part of Christmas as I knew it when I was younger and it all seems to be getting lost in translation!!!

Has anyone else noticed, does it bother you or do you think it is nice to have a change???

  1. I would love to see a traditional nativity but I do think it's nice for the children have the topic they've studied that term incorporated into their play, as our school do. This term they've been studying space so their play is Christmas with the Aliens.

Mary & Joseph still feature in the plays though. I can't wait to see how the Mary & Joseph story plays out in Christmas with the Aliens!!

  2. See that I can understand!!! My daughters school doesn't do anything related to what they have been learning it just seems to be rather random x
