It is amazing the power of the internet. Only last week I was reading a review for a fantastic little children's books and after sharing that review on Twitter the author herself kindly offered to send a book to me so that my kids could read it too.
The Inventing Tubes is the first book in a series known as The Pasta Kidz & Petz Adventures all created by Bryony Supper and bought to life with the fabulous illustrations from Julian Bray.
Marc Macaroni uses the inventing tubes to invent the fantastic Pastaball, Sarah Spaghetti, who is always impatient, tries to invent her own Pastaball without reading the instructions properly! The Pasta Petz arrive in the Pastamobile to save the day - but they are all so busy no-one hears the Pasta Beasties in the distance!

What made me like this book so much was just how unique it was, both with its characters and the story itself. Each character relates to a type of pasta and this is shown with their hairstyles, it is very clever and makes the characters instantly recognisable, this also makes them memorable.
Now in this book we are introduced to Marc Macaroni and Sarah Spaghetti but at the back of the book we are also shown the other Pasta Kidz as well as the Petz too, this made my youngest daughter rather excited for the other books in the series.
As I said the illustrations really bring the story to life but they wouldn't work without Bryony's writing. The tale that unfolds teaches children a lesson as they read, gets them thinking about patience and also gets them using their imaginations, what would they invent if they had such a machine available to them?

The only thing that has the potential to get confusing is the pasta vocabulary for example 'spaga spoodle spo', but all of these phrases are explained in the back of the book and actually makes it quite fun being able to act out just how the Pasta Kidz talk.
Now although alls well that ends well with the inventing tubes, the story ends on a sort of cliff hanger, the Pasta Beasties are on their way and this a clever little twist as it has certainly made my youngest two eager to read the next book in the series.

The Inventing Tubes makes for a great children's books, it is a totally new story, one that really appeals to both kids and parents. I would love to see the characters bought to life in a range of cuddly toys!
This sounds very entertaining and quite unique! I'm sure my niece would love it.
